VG Touriga Nacional

Colheita Selecionada

Amarante has so many great things that it’s difficult to know where to start.

In a region generally associated with Vinho Verde, there is much more to be discovered and explored in this garden planted on the banks of the Tâmega river.

From regional sweet pastries and bakes to the people who will welcome you as part of their family and the incredible wine produced throughout the region, Amarante is a city that’s easy to fall in love with.

This Touriga Nacional Colheita Selecionada by the Quintas de Vila Garcia estate is worth an afternoon or evening that you won’t soon forget.

Being a red wine from a Vinho Verde region, we can guarantee that this will probably be one of the most incredible wines you’ll be tasting in the upcoming months.

We have to address a detail that distinguishes this wine even further: its label.

All the Vila Garcia labels contain the unmistakable Amadeo e Souza Cardoso mark, a revered Portuguese artist born and raised in Amarante and, without a doubt, one of its most famous and illustrious inhabitants. It is also the birth place to Augustina Bessa-Luís and Teixeira de Pascoaes.

Another detail we have to share with you is that the Vila Garcia wines possess an experimental character and are only released in years of exceptional quality. This is, of course, a guarantee that the wine you’re about to taste is really, really good.

If this wine can inspire you to visit beautiful Amarante, we’ll be over-joyed.

The cherry on top of this cake comes from the recipe you’ll find on the back of this card. It’s another special dish suggested by Manuel Costa Vargas, the almost-Emperor of Alentejo delicacy recipes and dishes.

Remember us when you start your voyage around the wines in your Wome Box and take a photo of your gorgeous bottles to share on social media.

We’ll be waiting!

Cheers from your friends at Wome.

Vilas Garcia Ideology – Limited Editions

To look at Amarante and wanting to be it. A region with very intrinsic beliefs about style, with effusive and rustic wines. The interpretation of traditional grape varieties brought the desire of wanting to be more. Time challenges the regular growth of the wines produced here. Breaking stigmas and showing the true Amarante!

Cozinha and Furna Vineyards / Vila Garcia and Gatão– 275m altitude

Winemaking Context
Amarante is undeniably the terroir of red vinho verde. There are several examples of this greatness, however, tradition is no longer what it used to be and, feeling challenged, we aim at breaking with the norms. Here, we abandon the standard of high extraction to dedicate ourselves to subtlety. From structured to elegance, from intense and compote-like to richness and finesse.

Winemaking Process
De-stemming / Light foot treading. Light tanning for 7 days. Delicate pressing and ageing on lees after malolactic fermentation for 9 months. Bottled in August 2020 and in-bottle ageing for 9 months.

Tasting Notes
1. Appearance – Ruby, open
2. Aroma – Violet, chocolate, leather, citrus lime, camphor.
3. Tasting – Delicate, long, vibrant, very fresh, light, rustic and elegant.
High potential for ageing.
