Quinta Várzea da Pedra
12.39 €
Tomás and Alberto Emídio are brothers, and both are responsible for the Quinta Várzea da Pedra estate located on the outskirts of the Bombarral village, close to Óbidos.
Alberto is the commercial manager.
Tomás is a professional designer – his hands create the label designs that make each bottle so beautiful.
The biggest curiosity is that the designs are inspired by the tiles that have coloured the estate’s corridors for more than 100 years.
The estate has been part of this family for 4 generations.
This means that it has produced wine and pêra-rocha (a Portuguese variety of pear mainly grown in the Óbidos region) for over 100 years.
Part of the vineyard is of the same age, with the brothers having introduced new varieties such as sauvignon blanc, touriga nacional and syrah.
Their great-grandfather bought the estate in 1910, and it was his main home for many years.
In 2015, the brothers started working on the land to recover the family’s estate.
Rodrigo Martins is the oenologist who works his magic by transforming the grapes into the various award-winning wines that the Quinta already has.
This Fernão Pires is such an example. It has won, among others, the silver medal at the International Wine Challenge 2017 and 2nd place at the 34º Portuguese Wine Festival in the same year.
This wine will conquer a special place in your life with its freshness, minerality and incredibly hypnotising tropical fruit aroma.
It’ll leave you wanting more.
If you couple it with the fabulous recipe Chef Chakall prepared (on the reverse of this card), you’re in for a true treat.
You have everything you need for a magnificent lunch you will remember for many years to come.
Ahh! Don’t forget to share a photo of this beautiful bottle on your social media.
Cheers from your friends at Wome.
