The Castelo Rodrigo region is filled with history and played a crucial role in Portugal’s making and growth. This is where the oenologist Luís Miguel Santos proves it’s possible to continue making history with wines of outstanding quality. It’s right here, in the deep and unknown interior, where nectars with a unique complexity are produced with a touch of class.

On the back of the bottle, it states the wine is bottled by Cobelcos. The name aroused our curiosity.
Alert! Here comes another story 😉

One of the main exploration vineyards is planted near the “Turris Aquilaris” (also known as Torre das Águias, Torre de Almofala, and Casarão da Torre), which was inhabited by the Cobelco people before the Romans arrived. Proof of this is in the plaque dedicated to Jupiter found during excavations. It reads “IOVI. OPTVMO MAXVMO CIVITAS COBELCORVM” – To the greatest and best god Jupiter, the City of the Cobelcos. The Civitas Cobelcorum was founded at the beginning of the 1st century and was the administrative centre of a region bounded by the rivers Douro to the north, Águeda to the east, Côa to the west and by a parallel that would pass through Serra da Marofa to the south.
Quinta da Torre is located in the Beira Interior Demarcated Region, at more than 700 meters of altitude, in the heart of the International Douro Natural Park. From these schist soils, the best grapes of the Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca varieties were selected to make this Vale de Esgueva Seleção.
This wine was fermented following the traditional method after being foot trodden in a granite lagar. It aged in wood for six months and is an absolute reflection of this terrior – a unique wine with an inimitable profile.
All that’s left to do is taste it!

We selected the best grapes from the Tinta Roriz and Touriga Francesa varieties to produce this Vale de Esgueva Seleção. They were grown in schist soils at Quinta da Torre, in the heart of the International Douro Natural Park in the Beira Interior Demarcated Region. This wine has a fine balance between concentration, complexity and elegance, with ripe red fruit notes and elegant tannins.
