Quinta da Vegia
9.10 €
Four generations of wine producers help make up the history of the Quinta da Vegia estate. João Pedro Araújo has been responsible for this unique project’s destiny for the last 30 years.
At the end of the 1990s, with the activity’s development and professionalisation, João Pedro Araújo’s family decided to move beyond the Vinhos Verde region and acquire Quinta da Vegia.
By doing so, they expanded production to include red wines.
And if it’s red and from the Dão, the probability of you being in the company of great wine is exceptionally high.
Located near Penalva do Castelo, a town with a thousand-year-old history, the Quinta da Vegia estate currently occupies approximately 20 hectares of vineyards.
Lusitanians, Romans and Arabs passed through here, leaving their mark on the stunning landscapes and the soul of the people from the Beira region.
There are various monuments to be found which have survived the passage of time, as is the case with dolmens and prehistoric shelters.
Terras de Penalva played a vital role in the Christian defence against the Arabs and in protecting the territories north of the Mondego river.
It is also a region replete with magnificent and imponent manor houses, very typical of the romantic period.
The wine will tempt you to visit the Penalva region.
You can put that on your places to see list.
