Quinta Valle Madruga Tinta Roriz



When we think of Trás-os-Montes (Northern-most region of Portugal), we rarely remember that the region also produces wine (and does it exceedingly well).

It’s the case for the producer Valle Madruga da Quinta, with the wine bearing the same name.
It’s a centennial estate near Valpaços, in the Vila Real district.

With over 250 hectares of vineyard and olive and almond tree orchards, the Martins Ribeiro family have a secular connection to agriculture. This was the argument that convinced the brothers Tiago and André – two engineers by profession – to continue with this family tradition.

The wine you have in front of you is a single-variety Tinta Roriz that promises to surprise all those who cross paths with it (and here you are just looking at it! 😀)

It is very soft and smooth in the mouth, making it extremely pleasurable.

It’ll be an even greater wine if you let it age where it will do it best – in the bottle, of course.

Just as any good red wine from this incredible country, this wine pairs well with typical Portuguese dishes, especially those that are more appreciated during Winter.

A bean stew, oven-roasted codfish, young goat… It’s probably best we leave it at that, not least because the perfect suggestion is on the back of this card 😉
