José Piteira Syrah
José Piteira comes from Amareleja, located on the left bank of the Guadiana river. Besides being an oenologist, he’s a fascinating person who reflects the typical calm associated with the Alentejo people and the capacity to make extraordinary wines.
He is recognised as a master in the production of talha wine, an ancestral winemaking technique in the region. As an example, the José Piteira Talha wine stands out, one that has already been part of a previous Wome Box.
As a teenager, he learnt to make these wines, accompanying his elders in the winery. This was the starting point for his art, an art that he has never stopped developing and refining. He is one of the few producers certified for talha production since this certification became available in 2010.
This syrah single-variety is a novelty from José Piteira. It was launched this year with a renewed image that aims to genuinely translate the brand’s authenticity, raising it to the prominence and recognition it has achieved over the years.
These are wines that use ancestral technology dating back some 2000 years. It is an area with the highest summer temperatures, and the soils used for the vineyard are sandy and poor, so the grapes are high in concentration and quality.
These are author wines focused on the simplicity of nature and the employed techniques, resulting in wines of pure truth.
Moreover, the signature “where the soul falls in love with wine” is a way of paying tribute to life.
Now pour some of this Alentejo into your glass and let your senses travel to the Alentejo plains.
