Portugal Boutique Winery was born of the dream belonging to Nuno Aguiar de Morais Vaz and António Olazabal Ferreira. They dreamt of producing their own wines.

Both have strong family ties to the Douro region.

It seemed obvious to them that it would be there that they’d start their project.

Since the beginning of this adventure, the focus has been on the tireless quest to find older vines in Douro’s most genuine places.
Each of the wines they produce tells a story. But, before anything else, they reflect the producers’ work starting from the first harvested grape and finishing up in the last drop left in every bottle they produce.

Something we can guarantee is that we’re not trying to pull the wool over your eyes. None of that. Just like one of Gorro’s (gorro meaning beanie in Portuguese) cousins, the Boina (boina meaning a type of newsboy hat), this vinho verde is a positive surprise. It’ll make you dream of hot Summer afternoons, weekend lunches, the beach, enfin, the good part of life.

As you know, a vinho verde, just like a white, has to be tasted very fresh.

Leave the bottle in the refrigerator overnight and, if you can, place it in a chiller bucket with ice or a wine cooler sleeve when serving, ok?

Appellation: Porto and Douro

The Wine
Philosophy: To express the Loureiro variety authentically and genuinely in its natural habitat – Vale do Lima.
Origin: Grapes from two distinct vineyards. Located at approximately 5 km from the Atlantic Ocean with two types of soil of different origins – a vineyard with rolled rock soil on the Southern bank of the river, and another slightly more to the South, a hillside vineyard of schist and clay soil. Very rare, equally precious.

Winemaking process
Manual harvest into 20 kg boxes. Total destemming at reception, crushing, followed by pressing. Cold decantation for 2 days at 10°C, fermentation in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 16°C.

Staging: In stainless steel vats over fine lees for 5 months.

Tasting Notes: Citric yellow with greenish hues. Fascinating floral expression aroma with slight citric fruit nuance. In the mouth, a seductive elegance where the Atlantic freshness is notable in an exquisite finish.

Technical Information

ABV: 12.5%


Grouper cataplana*, cockles, ginger and rosé wine


800 gr filleted grouper cut in tranches and seasoned with salt, pepper and lemon juice
1 kg cockles washed in cold water and salt
1 onion cut in half and sliced
1 red bell pepper cut in strips, no seeds
2 ripe tomatoes cut in half and sliced
5 cloves of garlic, laminated
2 cups rosé wine
40 gr grated ginger
1 bunch coriander/cilantro
1 bunch chives
8 slices rustic, homestyle bread, thinly sliced and toasted
Juice of 1 lemon
Salt, pepper and olive oil


Open the cataplana and cover the bottom with olive oil. Add garlic cloves, onion, bell peppers and tomato by this order and let stew (without mixing).
Add the ginger.
Add the rose wine and let the alcohol evaporate for 2 minutes.
Add the grouper, skin side up, and let cook for 5 minutes on low-medium heat.
Add the cockles and all the aromatics, chopped, and a pinch of salt.
Close the cataplana and cook for 8 minutes.
Open, add the lemon juice and serve with the toasted bread.

*cataplana – cataplan – Portuguese cooking pot resembling a wok with a wok-like cover/lid. When closed, forms a ‘ball’ in which the ingredients stew evenly, retaining moisture and flavour.
